Iron / Steel

Steel is composed of an iron base metal mixed with varying degrees of other trace materials, including carbon, manganese, chromium, vanadium and tungsten to define texture, strength and hardness. Because iron and steel are used a great deal in construction materials, steel recycling is quite popular worldwide. Sources for iron recycling and steel recycling include:

  • Electric Motors
  • Beams
  • Railroad Scrap
  • Angles
  • Sheets
  • Plates
  • Construction Equipment
  • Farm Machinery
  • Channels
  • Demolition Scrap
  • Old Machinery
  • Tunings and Bearings
  • Miscellaneous Industrial Scrap
  • Pipe
  • Cast Iron
  • Light Iron
  • Heavy Iron
  • Steel Cable (Must be cut into lengths of 4 feet or less.)
  • Appliances Including: Refrigerators, Stoves, Washers, Dryers (Capacitors must be removed. Must not contain refrigerants or compressor oil.)
  • Drums, Barrels, Pails, Etc. (If closed-top, tops must be removed. Must be rinsed, cleaned and dry, with no remaining liquids or residue.)
  • Engine Blocks (Must be free of all oil. Oil pan must be removed.)
  • Propane Tanks and Other Compressed Gas Cylinders (Must contain no liquids and be de-valve. Smaller than 25 gallons must be cut in half. Twenty-Six gallons to 100 gallons must be cut in half or have an 12″ x 12″ hole, at minimum, and contain no combustible vapors. Larger than 100 gallons must be cut in half or have a 3′ x 3′ hole, at minimum, and contain no combustible vapors.
  • Tanks (Must be rinsed and cleaned. If tanks contain baffles, must have holes on both sides.
  • Automotive gas/diesel tanks must be cut in half or follow Tanks spec above and contain no combustible vapors.
  • Hydraulic Cylinders (Fluid must be drained. Cylinders must be disassembled or cut in half.)
